Looking back at the most memorable, only-in-New-York moments I have experienced these past few years, seeing The Curse in a theater easily gets on the list.

After premiering the first couple of episodes during the New York Film Festival, they kept screening the rest of the season every two weeks at the Walter Reade Theater on the Upper West Side. They showed two episodes at a time, one week ahead of streaming, and each screening was followed by a Q&A with Benny Safdie.

Out of all the TV shows I’ve watched these past few years, The Curse is the one that needed a conversation after each episode. I loved this short-lived film club.
