Sigur Ros was curating their own festival in Reykjavik called “norður og niður” at the end of 2017. I didn’t have any plans for Christmas that year, so what better way to celebrate than going to Iceland for a few days. I was eyeing flights and ended up booking one the day before.

The lineup involved Kevin Shields (from My Bloody Valentine), Jarvis Cocker (from Pulp), Dan Deacon, Peaches, Mogwai, Stars of the Lid and many more.

To be completely honest, I barely knew Sigur Ros then. I knew of them, I had friends who were fans, but I had never really listened to them. Needless to say, I became a fan after a song.

The jetlag, cold, and lack of sunlight made those few days feel like a fever dream.
